ANALYSIS THAT MAKES A DIFFERENCE

Welcome to Spark, we are glad you are here! Let us tell you a bit about who we are and what we value as a team.

Spark was founded in March of 2015 to fill a need for person-centered, analytical, empathetic, naturalistic, Behavior Analytic services for families in our community. When we started, we had one Behavior Analyst working with a single client and have since grown to include a team that includes two behavior analysts, an assistant behavior analyst and a billing specialist. The like-minded and highly skilled individuals on the Spark Team hold true to our values while allowing us to provide more diversified person-centered ABA treatment within the Autism Community.

So, what exactly do we mean by person-centered treatment? At Spark person-centered treatment is built on a belief that clients are people first, who have meaningful lives that extend well beyond treatment sessions. We believe incorporating a person’s individual interests and personal goals into their treatment adds richness to their experience and is imperative to their long-term growth. Our belief and commitment to treating the whole person drives every decision we make from the staff we invite to join our team, to the clothes our staff wear when with clients in the community as to not draw unnecessary attention to them. Although staffs’ attire may seem insignificant or nuanced, we consider this level of analysis vital to our clients success.

Our focus on in-depth analysis and a person-centered approach is highlighted in how we develop and implement treatment plans. We utilize a variety of assessment modalities to gain an accurate picture of many areas of the person’s life including life skills, adaptive behavior, social behavior, communication, play/leisure skills and as appropriate academic behavior. This unique and all-encompassing snapshot allows us to focus our attention on skills that are the most significant to the client’s current and future life. Our long-term focus is always on supporting skill development that will allow our clients to live their greatest self-determined life.

self-determined life requires many sophisticated skills that take a lot of time to master; this is true for all people but is especially relevant for people with learning differences.  It is our stoic belief that the greatest, most durable, long-term learning come from using the least intrusive most effective interventions possible. For us, that means naturalistic interventions are always considered before more intrusive interventions. The more we can use a person’s natural environment; home, school, community, to teach from the more likely we will see new skills make a meaningful impact in their daily lives. Naturalistic interventions also allow us to build genuine relationships with the people we serve; which is truly the most rewarding aspect of how we approach ABA therapy, the people whose lives we get to be a part of. We are grateful.

We would like to leave you with one final thought. We all need a village; kids, parents, adults, therapists, we are all human first and need to feel like part of a community. Our team here at Spark is a group of professionals who have worked diligently to build a tribe based on a culture of learning and empathy. If in any way, we can add value to your village, your tribe, please reach out to us; we are all in this together!

With the warmest regards,

The Spark Behavioral Team
